Laminam Effect nel cuore di Marrakech
L’ispirazione per Riad Nyla a Marrakech nasce dalla necessità di istituire un luogo di decompressione dal turbinio della medina. Costruito con un’anima multiculturale, il corpo del Riad si sviluppa sulla planimetria della tipica casa tradizionale marocchina riconvertita a “maison d’hôtes”. Il luogo è progettato seguendo una doppia dialettica architettonica: “tradizione-cosmopolitismo” e “lusso-intimità”.
Varcando i grandi portoni in legno ci si lascia alle spalle la confusione della città e si accede alla reception e al cortile principale, circondato dal tipico porticato con colonne, insieme alla Suite Ya Amar, alla cucina e al ristorante. Al piano primo, troviamo le Suite Noor e Amal (deluxe), Kaïa e Menzeh (superior). Sulla terrazza del primo piano anche una piscina esterna, un secondo spazio ristorante, una lounge per gli aperitivi e una zona relax con i lettini sdraio. Gli spazi wellness con hammam, piscina e zona massaggi trovano spazio in un ampio locale interrato di 220 mq, decorato con archi e volte a botte.
Gli impianti di ultima generazione del Riad sono studiati per garantire il massimo comfort in qualunque periodo dell’anno, grazie ad un sistema integrato tra pompe di calore solare e accumulatori di energia termica ed elettrica.
Spazio dunque ad innovazione tecnologica e comfort, ma senza tralasciare la tipica identità marocchina, che emerge negli elementi architettonici locali, come gli archi delle porte, la falegnameria con motivi tradizionali, le zelij, tipiche maioliche smaltate. E ampio spazio anche alla sofisticazione estetica e alla cura dei dettagli, con le superfici ceramiche Laminam declinate a pavimento, rivestimento e complemento d’arredo, scelte dall’architetto Mattia Siviero (MSDA) e dalla designer Corinne Dressler. L’estetica di Riad Nyla si riconosce nel Laminam Effect, tipico total-look da interni, qui rivisitato in chiave marocchina, con 5 collezioni (I Naturali, Seta, Ossido, Calce e IN-SIDE) applicate in 9 tinte e 4 finiture superficiali. Un’ampiezza di gamma, di dimensioni (si va dal 1000 x 1300 cm alla maxi-lastra 1620 x 3240 mm), di spessori, di effetti materici e di lavorazioni che hanno consentito di concretizzare le idee stilistiche dei progettisti, moltiplicando esponenzialmente le loro possibilità creative.

Artigianalità e tecnologia ceramica si incontrano a Marrakech
“Obiettivo del progetto? Mettere in simbiosi la massima tecnologia dei materiali Laminam con le straordinarie capacità artigianali di questo paese” spiega Arch. Mattia Siviero, principal associate di MSDA. “Le finiture Laminam sono ovunque: nell’ingresso, nei rivestimenti a pavimento e a parete, sui tavoli da pranzo, nel ristorante del patio e della terrazza, nei mosaici a pavimento, all’interno della SPA, nei bagni, nelle 5 Suites, persino a rivestimento dei cubi per appoggiare shampoo e sapone. Grazie alla versatilità degli effetti materici e degli spessori in gamma, siamo stati in grado di manipolare in forme armoniose la grande superficie ceramica”.
Il layout di Riad Nyla si sviluppa attorno al concetto elaborato dalla interior designer Corinne Dressler del “ritorno alla fonte”, cioè il benessere dell’uomo in rapporto agli elementi naturali. Un percorso che inizia nella SPA, con il marrone intenso della serie Ossido per le pareti e le colonne della piscina, oltre al bordo vasca. “Desideravo riprodurre l’ingresso in una grotta naturale, dove il cliente può immergersi in un fiume sotterraneo con un’apertura su un cielo stellato” (la volta rivestita in Noir Desir della serie I Naturali, ndr). “Ho scelto Pietra di Savoia? della gamma
I Naturali per alcune pareti nell’hammam, le colonne, la sauna e la sala dei trattamenti estetici, dove cercavo limpidezza. Per il bagno turco è stato invece impiegato il Bianco Lasa Lucidato, che usa un vocabolario più sofisticato” racconta Dressler.
Anche la reception decorata in Calacatta Oro Venato Naturale comunica un’accoglienza semplice, ma elegante, riprendendo la nuance in finitura Lucidato per il rivestimento del bancone. Forme pulite ma avvolgenti, che esplicitano un desiderio di ancestralità e ritorno a un’idea di stile più puro. Troviamo questa idea di fondo anche nella forma in cui sono realizzati i lavabi, tondi e lavorati su misura in ceramica Laminam (Noir Desir Naturale nella SPA e Calce Avorio in una delle Suites).
Finiture superficiali, un’esperienza tattile
La maggior parte dei materiali impiegati per l’interior design di Riad Nyla sono opachi, tranne le maioliche zellij, tradizionalmente smaltate.
“La versatilità delle finiture Laminam permette di rimanere fedele alla natura dei materiali e di giocare con gli abbinamenti tra texture superficiali, in base all’applicazione e all’effetto che volevo trasmettere nel progetto” spiega Dressler.
Le superfici con finitura Bocciardato, Fiammato e Naturale posate a pavimento (nella reception, nelle camere, nei bagni, nella SPA) permettono al cliente di camminare anche a piedi nudi, coniugando igiene profonda (conditio sine qua non in ambito alberghiero) e armonia tattile, pur conservando l’idea di total-look. L’accostamento tra effetti superficiali diversi rientra nella logica progettuale di esperienza totale ricercata da MSDA, che aspira ad accogliere gli ospiti coinvolgendoli in un percorso multisensoriale. “Troviamo affascinante il poter toccare i vari materiali a occhi chiusi, percependone le differenze: la scelta del materiale Fiammato e Bocciardato trasmette l’effetto della pietra naturale attraverso la pelle; il Naturale risponde a un’esigenza di morbidezza e facilità di pulizia (per top e lavabo, ad esempio); il Lucidato è eleganza glam, come nel bancone della reception o nella Suite Deluxe Ya Amar” spiega Arch. Siviero.
Una superficie, molteplici lavorazioni
Le lastre ceramiche maxi formato creano un continuum visivo d’impatto nelle camere e negli spazi comuni. La Suite Ya Amar è arredata con pavimenti e rivestimenti in Calacatta Oro Venato Lucidato, scelto nelle grandi lastre 1000 x 3000 mm: un orizzonte di colore bianco avorio attraversato da venature prominenti che virano dal marrone all’oro e che proseguono ininterrotte sul pavimento e lungo tutta la parete della stanza. Dalla Suite alla SPA, dal bianco al nero: anche per lo spazio wellness è la vena chiara di Noir Desir a cercare lo sguardo mentre corre sulle grandi lastre in formato 1620 x 3240 mm delle pareti e del pavimento.
Se i grandi formati esplicitano la cifra estetica della ceramica Laminam, è nella varietà delle lavorazioni, permesse grazie alla tecnologia di realizzazione delle lastre, che risiede una delle sorprese del progetto Riad Nyla. Rispetto alle maioliche tradizionali, anche la posa della lastra Laminam, tagliata in tasselli, permette di livellare perfettamente il materiale sulla superficie, come nella lavorazione scelta all’interno dell’Hammam in Bianco Lasa a pavimento o in Noir Desir, per la volta a botte della SPA. La vena avorio orizzontale è spezzata dall’opera di taglio e subito ripresa, in direzione perpendicolare, sul tassello successivo, invitando così l’occhio dell’osservatore a “ricostruire” il disegno originale come un puzzle. La performance tecnica della materia rimane invariata (facilità di pulizia, igiene profonda), esaltandone però la resa estetica.
Stilisticamente, il progetto di Riad Nyla predilige un gioco di alternanze: cromatismi e texture superficiali, grandi formati e lavorazioni su misura. Il susseguirsi di tinte chiare e note scure sempre risulta particolarmente raffinato: il contrasto è evidente nel pavimento di Suite Kaïa, ad esempio, con le nuance Bruno della serie Ossido (look metallico) e Calce Avorio (serie ispirata ad una parete appena intonacata) lavorate a mosaico, per riprodurre il disegno tipico delle case tradizionali marocchine.
L’effetto finale per il visitatore che vive l’esperienza di Riad Nyla è quello di un soggiorno in un ambiente dal design lussuoso, ma mai sovrastante.

Laminam Effect in the heart of Marrakech
The inspiration for Riad Nyla in Marrakech stems from the need to establish a place to decompress from the chaos of the medina. Built with a multicultural soul, the body of the Riad is based on the plan of a typical traditional Moroccan house converted into a “maison d’hôtes”. The place is designed following a double architectural dialectic: “tradition-cosmopolitanism” and “luxury-intimacy”.
Passing through the large wooden doors, you leave the noise of the city behind and enter the reception area and the main courtyard, surrounded by the typical columned porch, together with the Ya Amar Suite, the kitchen and the restaurant. On the first floor, we find the Noor and Amal (deluxe), Kaïa and Menzeh (superior) Suites. On the first floor terrace there is also an outdoor swimming pool, a second restaurant area, a lounge for aperitifs and a relaxation area with sun loungers. The wellness areas with hammam, swimming pool and massage zone are located in a large 220 square metre basement room, decorated with arches and barrel vaults.
The Riad’s state-of-the-art systems are designed to ensure maximum comfort all year round, thanks to an integrated system of solar heat pumps and thermal/electrical energy storage.
Technological innovation and comfort find their free expression, without neglecting the typical Moroccan identity, which emerges in the local architectural elements, such as the arches of the doors, the carpentry with traditional motifs, the zelij, typical glazed majolicas. And ample space is also given to aesthetic sophistication and attention to detail, with Laminam ceramic surfaces applied on floors, walls and furnishing elements, chosen by architect Mattia Siviero (MSDA) and designer Corinne Dressler. The aesthetics of Riad Nyla can be found in the Laminam Effect, a typical interior total-look, here revisited in a Moroccan key, with five collections (I Naturali, Seta, Ossido, Calce and IN-SIDE) applied in nine shades and four surface finishes. An extremely wide range, many dimensions (from 1000×1300 cm to the extra-large slab 1620×3240 mm), manifold thicknesses, textural effects and processes that have made it possible to realise the stylistic ideas of the designers, exponentially multiplying their creative possibilities.

Craftsmanship and ceramic technology merge in Marrakech
“Target of the project? Combining the highest technology of Laminam materials with the extraordinary craftsmanship skills of this country,” explains Arch. Mattia Siviero, principal associate of MSDA. “Laminam finishes are everywhere: in the entrance hall, in the floor and wall claddings, on the dining tables, in the patio and terrace restaurant, in the floor mosaics, inside the wellness centre, in the bathrooms, in the five suites, even coating the cubes for placing shampoo and soap. Thanks to the versatility of material effects and thicknesses in the range, we were able to manipulate the large ceramic surface into harmonious shapes.”
The layout of Riad Nyla is developed around the concept developed by interior designer Corinne Dressler of the ‘back to the source’, i.e. human well-being in relation to natural elements. A journey that begins in the wellness centre, with the deep brown of the Ossido series for the walls and columns of the pool, as well as the poolside. “I wanted to reproduce the entrance to a natural cave, where the guest can immerse themselves in an underground river with an opening to a starry sky” (the vault in Noir Desir from the I Naturali series, editor’s note). “I chose Pietra di Savoia? from the I Naturali range for some walls in the hammam, the columns, the sauna and the beauty treatment room, where I was looking for clarity. Instead, Bianco Lasa Polished, which uses a more sophisticated vocabulary, was used for the Turkish bath,” Dressler continues.
The reception decorated in Calacatta Oro Venato Natural also communicates a simple yet elegant welcome, echoing the nuance in the Polished finish for the desk cladding. Clean yet enveloping shapes evoke a desire for an ancestral spirit and a return to perfect, pure forms. We also find this basic idea in the shapes of the washbasins, which are round and made to measure in Laminam ceramics (Noir Desir Natural in the wellness centre and Calce Avorio in one of the Suites).

Surface finishes, a tactile experience
Most of the materials used for the interior design of Riad Nyla are opaque, except for the traditionally glazed zelij majolicas.
“The versatility of Laminam finishes allows for preserving the nature of the materials and play with combinations of surface textures, depending on the application and the effect I wanted to convey in the project,” explains Dressler.
Surfaces with Bocciardato, Fiammato and Natural finish applied on the floor (in the reception, rooms, restrooms, wellness center) allow the guests to walk barefoot, combining high hygiene (a must in the hotel business) and tactile harmony, while preserving the total-look idea. The combination of different surface effects is part of the design logic of total experience sought by MSDA, which aims at welcoming guests by involving them in a multi-sensory journey. “We find it fascinating the possibility of touching the various materials with our eyes closed, perceiving the differences: the choice of Fiammato and Bocciardato finish material conveys the effect of natural stone through the skin; Natural responds to a need for softness and ease of cleaning (for the vanity top and washbasin, for example); Polished is glam elegance, as in the reception desk or in the Deluxe Ya Amar Suite,” explains Arch. Siviero.
One surface, multiple processes
The extra-large size ceramic slabs create a striking seamless surface in the rooms and common areas. The Ya Amar Suite is furnished with floors and walls in Calacatta Oro Venato Polished, chosen in large 1000×3000 mm slabs: an ivory-white horizon crossed by prominent veins turning from brown to gold and continuing uninterrupted on the floor and along the entire wall of the room. From the suite to the wellness center, from white to black: even for the wellness area, it is the clear vein of Noir Desir that attracts the eye as it runs across the large 1620×3240 mm slabs of the walls and floor.
If the large sizes express the aesthetic character of Laminam ceramics, one of the surprises of the Riad Nyla project lies instead in the variety of processes made possible thanks to the slab technology. Compared to traditional majolica, the installation of the Laminam slab, cut into small tiles, also allows the material to be perfectly levelled out on the surface, as in the processing chosen for the hammam in Bianco Lasa on the floor or in Noir Desir for the barrel vault of the wellness centre. The horizontal ivory vein is broken by the cutting work and immediately taken up again, in a perpendicular direction, on the next tile, thus inviting the eye of the observer to ‘reconstruct’ the original design like a jigsaw. The technical performance of the material remains unchanged (ease of cleaning, high hygiene), while enhancing its aesthetic effect.
Stylistically, Riad Nyla’s design favors an interplay of alternations: colors and surface textures, large sizes and made-to-measure work. The succession of light colors and dark notes is always particularly refined: the contrast is evident in the floor of the Kaïa Suite, for example, with the Bruno shades of the Ossido series (metal look) and Calce Avorio (series inspired by a freshly plastered wall) worked in mosaic to reproduce the typical pattern of traditional Moroccan houses.
The final effect for the visitor who experiences Riad Nyla is that of a stay in a luxuriously designed, but never overwhelming environment.

Laminam Effect im Herzen von Marrakesch
Die Inspiration für das Riad Nyla in Marrakesch , entstand aus dem Bedürfnis, einen Ort zu schaffen, an dem man sich vom Trubel in der Medina erholen kann. Das mit einer multikulturellen Seele errichtete Gebäude des Riad basiert auf dem Grundriss eines typischen marokkanischen Hauses, das in ein „Maison d’Hôtes“ umgewandelt wurde. Der Ort ist nach einer doppelten architektonischen Dialektik gestaltet: „Tradition und Kosmopolitismus“ – „Luxus und Intimität“.
Wenn man durch die großen Holztüren tritt, lässt man die Hektik der Stadt hinter sich und betritt den Empfangsbereich und den Haupthof, der von der typischen Säulenhalle umgeben ist, sowie die Ya Amar Suite, die Küche und das Restaurant. Im ersten Stock befinden sich die Suiten Noor und Amal (Deluxe), Kaïa und Menzeh (Superior). Dazu kommen der Außenpool auf der Terrasse im ersten Stock, ein zweiter Restaurantbereich, eine Lounge für Aperitifs und ein Entspannungsbereich mit Liegestühlen. Die Wellnessbereiche mit Hammam, Schwimmbad und Massagebereich befinden sich in einem großen, 220 Quadratmeter großen, mit Bögen und Tonnengewölben gestalteten Untergeschoss.
Die hochmodernen Anlagen des Riads sind so konzipiert, dass sie dank eines integrierten Systems von Solarwärmepumpen sowie thermischen und elektrischen Energiespeichern das ganze Jahr über maximalen Komfort gewährleisten. Daher wird der technologischen Innovation und dem Komfort viel Platz eingeräumt, ohne jedoch die typisch marokkanische Identität zu vernachlässigen, die sich in den lokalen architektonischen Elementen wie den Bögen der Türen, den Tischlerarbeiten mit traditionellen Motiven und den Zelij, der typischen glasierten Majolika, zeigt. Handwerk und Keramiktechnologie treffen in Marrakesch aufeinander
„Ziel des Projekts? Die Kombination der Spitzentechnologie der Laminam-Materialien mit den außergewöhnlichen handwerklichen Fähigkeiten dieses Landes“, erklärt Arch. Mattia Siviero, Hauptgesellschafter der MSDA. „Laminam-Finishs überall: in der Eingangshalle, in den Boden -und Wandbelägen, auf den Esstischen, im Patio und auf der Terrasse des Restaurants, in den Bodenmosaiken, im SPA, in den Badezimmern, in den 5 Suiten, sogar in den Ablagefächern für Shampoo und Seife. Dank der Vielseitigkeit der Materialeffekte und -stärken im Angebot konnten wir die große Keramikfläche in harmonische Formen bringen.
Die Gestaltung von Riad Nyla basiert auf dem von der Innenarchitektin Corinne Dressler entwickelten Konzept der „Rückkehr zum Ursprung“, d. h. dem menschlichen Wohlbefinden in Verbindung mit den natürlichen Elementen. Eine Reise, die im Spa beginnt, mit dem tiefen Braun der Serie Ossido für die Wände und Säulen des Pools, sowie für den Poolrand. „Ich wollte den Eingang einer natürlichen Höhle nachbilden, in der der Kunde in einen unterirdischen Fluss eintauchen kann, der sich zum Sternenhimmel hin öffnet“ (das Gewölbe aus Noir Desir aus der Serie I Naturali, Anm. d. Red.). „„Für einige Wände des Hammam, für die Säulen, die Sauna und die Beauty Oase habe ich Pietra di Savoia? der Serie I Naturali gewählt, wo ich Klarheit wollte. Für das türkische Bad wurde dagegen Bianco Lasa Lucidato mit einem raffinierteren Flair verwendet“ meint Dressler.
Auch die Empfangstheke aus Calacatta Oro Venato Natural Matt strahlt eine einfache aber trotzdem elegante Gastfreundschaft aus, und greift die Nuance im Finish Lucidato für die Thekenverkleidung auf. Klare und doch umhüllende Formen, die den Wunsch nach Ursprünglichkeit und die Rückkehr zu einer reineren Vorstellung von Stil zum Ausdruck bringen. Dieser Grundgedanke wird auch in den runden Formen der maßgefertigten Waschtische aus Laminam-Keramik weitergeführt (Noir Desir Natural Matt im SPA und Calce Avorio in einer der Suiten).

Oberflächenfinishs, eine taktile Erfahrung
Die meisten der für die Inneneinrichtung des Riad Nyla verwendeten Materialien sind matt, mit Ausnahme der traditionell glasierten Zellij-Majolikaplatten.
„Mit der Vielseitigkeit der Laminam-Finish hat man die Möglichkeit, der Natur des Materials treu zu bleiben und mit Kombinationen von Oberflächenstrukturen zu spielen, je nach Anwendung und der Optik, die man mit dem Projekt erzielen wollte“, erklärt Dressler.
Die Flächen in den Finishs Bocciardato, Fiammato und Natural Matt ermöglichen als Bodenbelag (im Empfangsbereich, die den Schlaf- und Badezimmer und im SPA), das barfüßige betreten und sorgen für absolute Hygiene (was in der Hotelbranche unabdingbar ist) und taktile Harmonie, wobei der Gedanke des Gesamtbildes erhalten bleibt. Die Kombination verschiedener Oberflächeneffekte ist Teil der von der MSDA angestrebten Designlogik des Gesamterlebnisses, das die Gäste auf eine multisensorische Reise mitnehmen soll. „Ein einzigartiges Erlebnis besteht darin, die verschiedenen Materialien mit geschlossenen Augen zu berühren und die Unterschiede wahrzunehmen: In den jeweiligen Ausführungen Fiammato und Bocciardato vermittelt das Material den haptischen Effekt von Naturstein; Natural Matt wirkt dagegen samtig weich und ist leicht zu reinigen (es eignet sich z. B. einwandfrei als Top und Waschtisch); in der Polierten Ausführung wird glamouröse Eleganz ausgestrahlt, wie bei der Empfangstheke oder der Deluxe Ya Amar Suite“, erklärt Arch. Siviero.
Eine einzige Oberfläche, viele Bearbeitungen
Die keramischen Platten im Maxiformat bilden ein auffälliges visuelles Kontinuum in den Räumen und Gemeinschaftsbereichen. Die Ya Amar Suite zeigt Boden- und Wandbeläge aus Calacatta Oro Venato Poliert im Großformat 1000 x 3000 mm: Ein elfenbeinweißer Horizont, der von markanten Maserungen durchzogen ist, die von Braun zu Gold übergehen und sich unterbrechungslos am Boden und entlang der gesamten Wand des Raumes fortsetzen. Von der Suite bis zum SPA, von Weiß bis Schwarz: Auch im Wellnessbereich zieht die klare Maserung von Noir Desir der großen Platten im Format 1620 x 3240 mm an Boden- und Wandbelägen die Blicke an.
Wenn die großen Formate den ästhetischen Charakter der Laminam-Keramik verdeutlichen, liegt eine der Überraschungen des Projekts Riad Nyla in der Vielfalt der Prozesse, die dank der Plattentechnologie möglich sind. Im Vergleich zur traditionellen Majolika ermöglicht die Verlegung der in Steine geschnittenen Laminam-Platte auch eine perfekte Nivellierung des Materials auf der Oberfläche, wie bei dem für das Hammam gewählten Bianco Lasa am Boden oder in Noir Desir für das Gewölbe des Spas. Die horizontale elfenbeinfarbene Maserung wird durchschnitten und auf den anliegenden Stein senkrecht wieder aufgenommen, so dass der Betrachter das ursprüngliche Muster wie ein Puzzlespiel „zusammenstellen“ kann. Die technische Leistung des Materials bleibt unverändert (einfache Reinigung, Tiefenhygiene), während die optische Performance verbessert wird.
Stilistisch setzt Riad Nyla auf ein Wechselspiel von Farben und Oberflächentexturen, Großformaten und Maßarbeit. Helle Farben und dunkle Töne wechseln sich auf raffinierte Weise ab: Der Kontrast zeigt sich zum Beispiel auf dem Bodenbelag der Suite Kaïa mit den Brauntönen der Serien Ossido (Metallic-Optik) und Calce Avorio (von einer frisch verputzten Wand inspirierte Serie), die in Mosaik gearbeitet sind und das typische Muster der traditionellen marokkanischen Häuser nachbilden.
